Backup Wedding Ceremony plan!
The Weather in Sydney Australia, this week and last week, shows, you always need a back up plan for your Wedding Ceremony.
If you are having your Ceremony and Reception at the same Venue, you are lucky, that the Venue will have a back up plan if it is windy or raining. Make sure you discuss the Back up Plan with your Wedding Coordinator and Florist, so you know if the Ceremony Flowers need to change, if the Wet Weather Plan is implemented. Eg Some Arches don’t fit inside, so your Florist will need to change the Arch or Floral Installation they had planned.
Other questions to ask about the Back Up Plan, will the Back Up space, fit the same amount of people? When do you need to decide? Who needs to assist with the moving of the Ceremony? There are usually strict timeframes with Venues and Public spaces, so a decision usually needs to be made by 10am on the day, or earlier if possible.
If you are getting Married in a public place, what happens if it rains and the Vendors have left? Does the Groom and Groomsmen have an emergency kit, if they need to wipe chairs, need scissors and cable ties, if they need to move things? Your Chair Supplier / Florist phone number to ask them to help move the Ceremony? If you have hired an Event Coordinator for the day (not always necessary) they will assist with this of course, but if you do not have one, who have you asked from your group of friends / family, to be there early to check everything is ok esp with inclement weather? Of course this can be delegated to the Groom!!!
Have a conversation with your Florist / other Ceremony Suppliers, what your expectations are for the Ceremony - I usually stay for the Ceremony in case anything needs to be done, and to “mind” the ceremony so members of the public do not impede on your space, but what are the expectations of your other Suppliers? I have had 2 Weddings in Public spaces, where Rangers have had to “shoo” people away from the allocated space the Bride and Groom had prebooked (hundreds of dollars) because members of public ignored AREA CLOSED sign! So it helps to align your Suppliers or have friends / family there early to make sure everything ready.
Similarly your Celebrant and Musicians will need to know asap if Ceremony is moving. Hope this helps in your Wedding Planning!
